… okay, I was kidding about that last one.

But only JUST.

In fact, I’d say it’s only a matter of time before someone backs that diet for real.

Whichever way you slice it, it’s all the same old crud. How to lose weight fast, how to lose weight fast, how to lose weight fast.

So what’s the deal?

What if you DO want to lose weight fast? What if you’ve got a ‘special event’ on this weekend, or you suddenly decided to drop everything and get married in Vegas in 3 days, or you just can’t stand to feel fat for ONE MORE SECOND?

… seriously, I love these questions.

Here’s the deal … and those of you who know me well will probably already KNOW what I’m about to say …

There is NO SUCH THING as quick, drastic, PERMANENT weight-loss.

Unless you are so obese that you can barely lever yourself out of bed in the morning – we’re talking five, six hundred pounds here – it is IMPOSSIBLE to lose more than one or two pounds of fat, maximum, per week.

Covert Bailey, author of best-selling weight-loss phenomenon Fit or Fat, puts it this way: if you wanted to choose a piece of really lean meat from the butcher’s, would you ask for the SMALLEST piece on the grounds that it would be the leanest?

Of course not. That’s ridiculous.

Instead, you’d go for the one with the least marbling … the one with the least FAT on it.

So if you see a diet that’s advertising ‘lose five pounds by Saturday’ or whatever, your first reaction shouldn’t be, ‘Wow! I need to do that!’

It should be, ‘Lose five pounds? Five pounds of what?

Remember, it’s physiologically IMPOSSIBLE – unless you are SEVERELY OBESE – to lose more than two pounds maximum of fat per week.

And fat is the tissue you WANT to lose, right?

You don’t want to lose muscle or organ tissue, since that would make it harder for you to keep weight off …

… and easier to put it back on again.

But when you see a diet that’s advertising ‘quick weight loss’, that’s exactly the tissue you’ll lose.

It’s not FAT you’re losing. It’s your actual BODY tissue, the stuff that makes it easy for you to move around, breathe, digest food, and actually burn calories.

Sorry guys. There’s no quick fix on this one. There’s no ‘easy way out’. If you want to lose weight, you should aim to do it AS SLOWLY AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN. Doctors and scientists alike know for sure, the slower you lose weight, the longer you’ll keep it off for.

So if you want to lose weight fast, what should you do?
